Streamlining continues at Tesco where consultation has commenced with head office staff about a planned workforce reduction of 1200, affecting around 25 per cent of head office roles. This comes in addition to the retailer’s recently announced Cardiff-based call centre closure.
This is understood to form part of the retailer’s turnaround plan and is to help offset rising costs including business rates, the rising cost of imported merchandise, and shop floor wage increases.
