Shop Direct reports strong mobile contribution


Shop Direct has reported a like for like increase in its group sales for the year to 1st July of 5.6 per cent, coming in at £1.93 billion. The Very offering achieved £1.26 billion of this, equating to a like for like increase of 12.6 per cent.

The mobile channel proved to be a key contributor to growth with sales via smartphones now exceeding 50 per cent of all Shop Direct online sales and the MyVery app responsible for more than 32 per cent of Very’s mobile sales. 

“We’re pleased to report our fifth successive year of record sales and underlying profits,” said Alex Baldock, Shop Direct CEO, adding “Once again, Very and mCommerce were the big drivers of our growth. Our long term investments in digital, data, personalisation and Very are coming good. We’re delivering one of the most relevant shopping experiences on a 4.7″ screen, with our five-star apps, digital marketing expertise and leadership in personalisation.”
