Next has entered into an agreement with digital auto dealer Rockar in which it will use excess retail space for the sale of cars. The first store earmarked for a Rockar concession is at Manchester’s Arndale Centre, subject to planning approval.
Private equity backed Rockar opened its first outlet at the Bluewater Shopping Centre in November 2014 and has further outlets at Westfield London and Westfield Stratford. The business says that some sixty per cent of its customers complete their car purchases via its online platform from home and that having a presence in these non-traditional locations will enable many more customers to access its offering.
Simon Dixon, director of Rockar commented “This is a really exciting project for us and we’re thrilled to have Next on board. Our collaboration is very aligned in terms of core values. Next is a truly omnichannel business, so it makes sense that they would capitalise on the opportunity to offer something unique to their customers.”
