Matchesfashion has posted spectacularly strong results for the year to January 31st, thanks in no small part to its investment in international markets. The retailer enjoyed a 44 per cent increase in its overall revenues for the year which came in at £293 million with EBITDA at £26 million, up by 34 per cent. 95 per cent of revenues were generated online at an average order value of £542.
82 per cent of the retailer’s online sales came from outside the UK with particularly strong growth recorded from the US market. A new app saw 51 per cent of online sales completed via mobile. The business had launched new local language websites for France and Korea and is soon to open a new 500,000 sq.ft. distribution centre in London.
CEO Ulric Jerome said: “The global online luxury market is seeing strong growth but penetration is still very low, so the opportunity is huge. We continue to accelerate profitable growth in our international markets and we that momentum continuing throughout 2018.”
