ASOS has shared its trading statement for the four months to June 30th 2018, showing continued growth in its key markets. UK retail sales reached £288 million, with sales for the EU at £257.4 million, the USA at £108.1 million and the rest of the world at £149.2 million. Overall group revenue rose by 21 per cent over the same period for the previous year on a constant currency basis. Active customer numbers (past 12 months buyers) grew by 20 per cent and average basket values by 1 per cent.
Nick Beighton, CEO, commented: “I am pleased with the way the business has traded over the last four months and we are on track with our plans for the year. We delivered good sales growth, particularly in the UK, better than planned gross margin alongside significant progress on our infrastructure investments. P4 trading has started well, particularly in terms of full price sell through. We remain confident of delivery another year of strong growth.”
ASOS websites attracted 180 million visits during June 2018 as compared with 146 million during June 2017.
However, investors were disappointed in these results with shares falling by 10.5 per cent to 5820p as the market had expected a 25 per cent increase in overall sales.
