Word has it that both JD Sports Fashion and rival Sports Direct have made offers for Evans Cycles, in addition to Halfords which was the first party to indicate interest. Private equity funds are also understood to be reviewing the business for which its owner ECI Partners is looking for offers of £10 million+ to see Evans Cycles able to return to a firm footing from its current loss making state. It is not yet known how serious the prospective buyers are.
