Speculation is mounting that Mike Ashley is the most likely buyer for the Sofa.com business. The soft furnishings retailer had been engaged in discussions with competitor ScS but it is understood that these talks have come to an end. Sofa.com has a number of concessions within House of Fraser stores and is set to take over those areas previously occupied by ScS in seven HoF stores.
Market watchers suggest that Ashley is working to have space in House of Fraser stores put to work for his own brands wherever feasible.
