Sainsbury’s merges marketing teams

Sainsbury’s will merge its marketing teams for Sainsbury’s, Argos and the Nectar loyalty scheme following the promotion of Mark Given to the newly created CMO role. This results in Gary Kibble exiting the Argos business but the retailer says that redundancies are unlikely, although it is understood that Argos digital director Mark Steel is poised to leave the business in August.

In a statement, the business said “Sainsbury’s acquired Argos almost three years ago and had always planned to integrate the businesses more fully over time so that we can provide a seamless customer offer across Sainsbury’s and Argos, in stores and online. Bringing the two marketing functions together is a natural next step as we bring the businesses and the brands closer together.”
