Renowned publisher of car manuals, Haynes Publishing is being sold. The business, which has been re-invigorated as an online business over the past five years, launched in 1966 with a manual for the Austin Healey Sprite in the days when owners tended to tackle most of their car maintenance themselves. Built on direct to consumer mail order as well as trade sales to stockists, the board has appointed Europa Partners to conduct a formal sales process of the Somerset headquartered business. The move follows the passing of founder John Haynes in February this year.
Executive chairman Eddie Bell said: Our recent operating performance sits well on the sound foundation of the trusted and respected Haynes brand.” Adding: “The board now believes our future will be best secured by the whole group becoming part of an organisation with the financial resources to invest for future expansion and take the company through to the next 60 years of success.”
