Rumours have been mounting that the French investment group PAI which owns Cotswold Outdoor and Snow + Rock is looking to close a significant number of its remaining UK stores following a drop in sales and losses which reached £17.9 million in 2018. Creditors had agreed in May to the closing of four stores and rent reductions on others, but this, it seems, may not be enough. Talk is that several hundred jobs may be on the line as urgent additional cost saving measures are made with Brexit uncertainties and the difficult UK retail trading market contributing to doubts over the long term viability of the O&CC group.
