The Hut Group (THG) is donating 3.5 million items of PPE to the health and care sectors in the Greater Manchester area. It is importing the 25 tonne consignment comprising masks, gowns, gloves and face shields for distribution this week in collaboration with an initiative supported by Mayor Andy Burnham. The supplies will reach NHS and frontline social care services workers as well as hospices. THG is also bringing in additional PPE for its own employees.
THG CEO Matthew Moulding said: “NHS and frontline workers are doing an outstanding and vital job to protect people in the UK. It is only right that we play our part and utilise THG’s global network to source, buy and donate essential PPE. We want to show our appreciation and play our part in helping keep them safe.”
This latest donation is in addition to an earlier £10m aid package given by THG to support vulnerable communities, key workers and emergency services.
