The Works has posted a 3.5 per cent sales increase for the year to 26th April. It had opened 37 new stores bringing its chain up to 534, as planned. It had enjoyed a significant rise in sales in stores and online immediately prior to lockdown with parents, in particular, buying products to keep their children engaged whilst at home.
In response to lockdown, CEO Gavin Peck has taken a voluntary 33 per cent pay reduction, chairman Dean Hoyle has waived all fees, both for an initial period of three months. Other operation directors have taken 20 per cent pay reductions for the period of store closures.
