As Boohoo moves to satisfy the market that it has not been complicit in placing orders with unlawful sweatshop manufacturers in Leicester, news comes that both Next and Zalando have removed Boohoo products from their online offerings.

Meanwhile, Boohoo has issued a statement saying that it has appointed Alison Levitt QC to lead an immediate independent review of its UK supply chain. It hs also refuted claims that the garments photographed in a report which appeared in the Sunday Times were made in the UK, saying that they were manufactured in Morocco and were simply being re-packed in Leicester.

The business also reiterated that Jaswal fashions was not, and had never been a supplier to its group.

CEO John Lyttle said: “As a board, we are deeply shocked by the recent allegations about the Leicester garment industry. We wish to reiterate at how seriously we are taking these matters and we will not hesitate to terminate any relationships where non-compliance of our code of conduct is found.”
