Majestic Wine has proved to be a major beneficiary of the lockdown period having gained 150,000 new customers. The business which had closed its stores to walk-in customers had converted many to using its local delivery service. It booked a 300 per cent increase in its online sales and now plans to launch a new website and EPOS platform by the Autumn. New stores will also open in Henley and Beckenham.
“Getting back to what we do best is the absolute cornerstone of our plan to grow Majestic,” said CEO John Colley. “Our stores are at the centre of who we are and what we do. The way they adapted to working as delivery hubs meant we were able to come through lockdown in good shape. Who knows what the future will hold, but I feel confident that a new strategy based around stores is the best one for us.”
