Rayner trio steps down from Lakeland board

Lakeland says it has brought forward planned changes to its structure following the impact of lockdown which saw its 67 strong retail chain close.

Lakeland was famously launched by the father of Sam, Martin and Julian Rayner who still retain ownership of the business but will step down from its board next month.

Steve Knights will step up from his role as commercial director to become CEO replacing Catherine Nunn who becomes deputy chair. The board is completed with Paul Lewis as chief financial and operating officer, Scott Jefferson as chief commercial officer, and Neil Piggot as chief customer officer. Operations director Gary Marshall who has sixteen years service with the business departs at the end of this month.

Sam Rayner commented: “In my 46 years at the helm of Lakeland, I have never been so grateful to our colleagues who, responding to the recent unprecedented events, transformed and changed our company in just a few days to meet the challenges we all faced. We believe that Lakeland’s overall strategy remains even more relevant now than ever before and will provide clear focus and direction for the years to come.”
