Frasers Group shows interest in Arcadia brands

Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group has reportedly confirmed its interest in buying Arcadia brands, including Topshop.

Frasers Group chief financial officer, Chris Wootton said the group tends to look at “almost everything on the High Street,” BBC News reports.

The news comes after the Sports Direct owner reported an increase in profits for its half year results, despite a drop in revenue (see Direct Commerce news story).

Mr Wootton told the BBC that the process “has only just started so there’s a long way to go”.

And, he revealed that Frasers Group was still in discussions around potentially purchasing Debenhams.

Last week, it was reported that Sir Philip Green’s Arcadia – which also owns Burton and Dorothy Perkins – had collapsed into administration putting 13,000 jobs at risk.
