Homebase has taken the opportunity to extend its reach by co-locating with Next in order to open small garden centres within larger Next stores. An initial six Next stores are involved in the trial which will enable Next customers to buy house plants, pots and tools amongst other items. This latest move by Next shows that it is focusing heavily on extending the number of guest ranges which form part of its offering.
Damian McGloughlin, Homebase CEO said: ” We’re delighted to be joining forces with Next and bringing our garden products and expertise to its stores. It’s all part of our wider commitment to make shopping with us easier and provide even more inspiration and expert advice.”
Meanwhile, word is that Hugh Osmond is poised to enter into exclusive talks with Homebase owner Hilco. Osmond is reportedly keen to acquire the business.
