B&Q has confirmed that it will reduce its UK retail space by 15 per cent by the end of fiscal 2016/17. This equates to 60 stores. The business will instead further develop its online offering including its Click,Pay & Collect service, whilst also extending coverage of its Screwfix outlets in response to a drop in consumers tackling their own DIY in favour of using tradespeople. Around 200 new sites are earmarked for the Screwfix facia. B&Q total sales for the six months to August 1st were £2.033 million which was up by 0.7 per cent on a like-for-like basis.
