Fat Face slashes its losses

Fat Face has posted sales of £165m for the year to May 29th 2021 on which it declared a loss of £13.6m. The loss had almost halved from the previous year’s loss of £26.4m.

To achieve this, Fat Face had closed over 20 stores, achieved rent reductions on others, and reduced its headcount by 600. Its digital sales had increased to a 39 per cent share of the total and the business said that it was now working to move more of its trade online with a target of 70 per cent.

For the six months to November 27th 2021, online sales accounted for 47 per cent of the total £125m with international demand up by 92 per cent year on year, with the business clearly on track to return to profitability. In other initiatives, it has commenced selling via the Marks & Spencer website and has also launched its first babywear collection in order to further grow its childrenswear offer.
