Online retailer Party Pieces’ business and assets have been sold to Teddy Tastic Bear Co Ltd, a company owned by entrepreneur James Sinclair, by joint administrators Will Wright and Chris Pole of Interpath Advisory.
Party Pieces was founded in 1987 by the Middletons, who were catapulted into the limelight when their daughter Kate entered into a relationship with Prince William and married into the Royal family. The business came under pressure during the pandemic as demand for party products collapsed. The directors then sought to explore the ongoing opportunity for the business which had recently entered the US market.
Will Wright, head of restructuring at Interpath Advisory said: “Party Pieces is a well-established brand with a proud British heritage, but like many other companies across the retail space, had been impacted profoundly by the effects of the pandemic and the ensuing restrictions on social gatherings.
“We’re pleased to have been able to conclude this transaction which sees the business acquired by James Sinclar. We wish him all the very best for the future.”
James Sinclair told Direct Commerce that he was excited to take the Party Pieces brand into his group and create “the best party brand ever” as well as saying that he was looking to extend its arts and crafts business which includes teddy bear making.
