Wilko administrators field further interest

OnBuy, which has pledged never to compete with its marketplace sellers, is the latest business to make an offer to the administrators of Wilko. This is presumably an offer for the brand only rather than for the stores.

It is understood that B&M, Pepco and Home Bargains are looking to take some of Wilko’s better positioned stores, whilst The Range is keen to acquire the Wilko brand. Meanwhile Doug Putnam who acquired HMV still has an offer in the ring for both the brand, most of its store operations and people. It is understood that Putnam’s offer is being discussed with Wilko’s major creditors.

Wilko subsidiary Kin has generated no offers and that part of the business will close on Monday 4th September.

An update from PwC is expected later today.
