Fired Earth, which retailed upmarket ceramic tiles and related products, appointed Dane O’Hara and Neil Bennett from Lenoard Curtis as joint administrators. This impacts around 130 jobs across Fired Earth’s 20 showrooms.
The administrators are working to sell the assets via an accelerated mergers and acquisitions process, but this will not include any of the company’s staff who have been made redundant.
Dane O’Hara, joint administrator, said: “Fired Earth has been loss-making for some time. In the last three years, the company has been supported by its shareholders via substantial working capital loans while efforts were made to return the business to profitability. Unfortunately, the company continued to incur trading losses, and its investor was not prepared to provide further funding in the absence of a viable turnaround strategy.”
Fired Earth’s head office will remain open for a limited period to fulfil outstanding customer orders, with the administrators continuing to trade the business in a limited capacity pending an asset-only sale.
