Pets at Home has reported a 4.9 per cent increase in retail consumer revenue in the first quarter, as its turnaround plan helped it win market share and grow volumes ahead of sales.
Group consumer revenue rose 3.9 per cent to £614m in the 16 weeks to 16 July. Retail consumer revenue reached £399m, while Vet Group revenue increased 1.9 per cent to £215m, supported by Care Plan growth and higher average transaction values.
The retailer said its retail performance was broad-based, with category resets across dog food, cat food and treats launched during the quarter. It is also investing in a refresh of its store estate, alongside improvements to product availability, value perception and in-store order collection.
Pets at Home said retail transactions grew 2 per cent, while its active Pets Club base stood at 7m. The group maintained full-year FY27 guidance and confirmed that its £50m share buyback programme is progressing.
James Bailey, chief executive of Pets at Home, said the trading update showed “clear further signs” that the retail turnaround plan was gaining traction.
