Younger shoppers drive store visits at HMV

HMV has reported a 12 per cent increase in visits across its 114 UK stores during the first half of the year.

The retailer is now on course to attract around 50 million store visits during 2026 as younger consumers seek places to meet and explore shared interests.

HMV has revamped its stores since the pandemic, dedicating more space to pop culture merchandise including collectibles, trading cards, toys and K-pop products.

The growing appetite for physical products is also supporting its music business. In-store vinyl sales have increased by 27 per cent year on year, while online sales are up 45 per cent.

CD sales have risen by 10 per cent, partly driven by younger K-pop fans buying physical albums. CDs also provide a more affordable alternative to vinyl.
