AO World has completed its acquisition of specialist photography retailer Jessops from Peter Jones, adding cameras and optical equipment to its growing range.
The purchase was funded from existing cash resources. AO did not disclose the price in its announcement.
Jessops also brings Camera Jungle, its resale business, which AO said complements musicMagpie.
The group expects to use its scale, customer traffic and operational expertise to develop Jessops and integrate photography into its wider offering.
In the same update, AO said it expected first-half revenue to rise 5.5 per cent and pre-tax profit to increase by more than 20 per cent to around £21.5m.
Full-year profit expectations remain unchanged, reflecting planned investment and tougher second-half comparisons. The figures cover the six months ending 30 September and remain pre-close estimates.
