International Distribution Services, the owner of Royal Mail, has agreed to acquire Quadient’s UK parcel locker network of around 3,000 sites.
The deal would bring the lockers into Royal Mail’s network of parcel shops, postboxes and other collection points, giving customers more places to send, collect and return parcels.
Royal Mail already used Quadient lockers through an earlier partnership. Ownership would add the network’s existing locations, carrier relationships, staff and future site pipeline to its out-of-home operation.
IDS announced the agreement on 23 September and expects the transaction to complete by the end of 2026. Its announcement did not disclose the purchase price.
The move extends Royal Mail’s investment in collection and returns infrastructure as carriers and retailers seek options beyond doorstep delivery.
