Yusen Logistics has opened a 1.2 million sq ft distribution centre in Northampton, bringing together warehouse automation, digital systems and lower-carbon infrastructure.
The facility officially opened on 24 September and is expected to employ around 150 people. Yusen said it has been designed as a scalable platform for customers with increasingly complex supply-chain requirements.
Environmental features include solar generation, rainwater harvesting, electric-vehicle charging and resource-efficient systems. The building has achieved a BREEAM Outstanding rating.
Yusen described the site as an investment in future UK supply-chain capacity and resilience, but did not disclose its cost, customer roster, throughput capacity or measured operational benefits.
