IKEA has launched its second-hand marketplace in the UK and Ireland, allowing IKEA Family members to buy and sell pre-owned products directly with one another.
The move extends the retailer’s involvement in resale beyond its existing Buyback service, through which eligible items are returned to IKEA in exchange for store credit.
The marketplace helps sellers identify products and add existing product information, images, measurements and a suggested price. Listings are free, and sellers can choose to receive payment by bank transfer or as an IKEA digital refund card with 15 per cent added value.
IKEA said the marketplace had attracted 15 million visits and generated 95,700 listings across its first six European markets by 31 August 2026. Around 25.5 per cent of users were new or reactivated IKEA Family members.
The service is now available in eight European markets following its UK and Ireland launch, with Germany due to follow on 14 October.
IKEA is also testing closer links between its marketplace and Buyback service in Portugal and Spain, alongside delivery partnerships intended to make larger second-hand products easier to move.
