Superdry & Co secures £70m refinancing for next growth phase

Superdry & Co has secured a £70m refinancing package with Barclays and Bank of America. The deal comprises a £60m committed asset-based lending facility, led by Barclays and running to October 2029, and a £10m trade finance facility from Barclays guaranteed by UK Export Finance.

The new facilities replace arrangements put in place with Bantry Bay Capital and Hilco Capital during the group’s 2023 turnaround. Senior funding now sits with two high-street banks rather than a specialist turnaround lender. Hilco Capital has separately extended support to June 2028, providing up to £30m of additional headroom.

Cost and growth plans

Superdry & Co said the refinancing is expected to cut annual interest costs by around £5m compared with the previous facilities. The company pointed to a return to profit in FY25, continued EBITDA improvement through FY26 and a strong start to FY27.

The group operates 121 owned stores across the UK, Europe and the US. Plans for FY27 include 21 new stores, further European expansion and investment in the wider brand portfolio, including Bench, the exclusive UK and European launch of US workwear brand Stan Ray, and a Kappa partnership for spring/summer 2027.

Founder and chief executive Julian Dunkerton said the refinancing gives the business backing to focus on growth, brand building, international presence and new stores. Chief financial officer Nic Shaw said it puts the group on a firmer financial footing and provides headroom to invest behind its strategic plans.
