OneBeyond targets 200 UK stores within 18 months

OneBeyond is targeting growth from 120 to 200 UK stores within 18 months. The proposed expansion would increase its workforce from 1,650 to more than 3,000, the company said in a statement on 5 November 2026.

The retailer said it is in discussions with Poundland about a number of viable sites. Any openings would be subject to availability, commercial terms and each location meeting OneBeyond’s requirements. The business also invited landlords and property agents with suitable locations to come forward.

Poundland context

Poundland recently filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators after a whole-business sale process failed to find a buyer. OneBeyond owner and chief executive Chris Edwards Jnr said that if a rescue of Poundland as a whole cannot be secured, established retailers can help provide a future for suitable stores and jobs for affected colleagues.

He said OneBeyond is already engaging with the relevant parties about suitable store opportunities and is ready to act quickly, with a long-term ambition to keep affordable shopping in local communities.

OneBeyond describes itself as a family-owned discount retailer with a range of around 5,000 everyday essentials, homeware, toys and seasonal products.
