Argos tests Post Office delivery

Argos is to trial a new distribution route. The idea is that customers who order online will be able to opt for an item to be sent to their local post office for collection. The system will be tested across 189 post offices in East Anglia, and will apply to parcels weighing less than 30kg. The theory is that it will suit customers who are too busy to either collect goods from a store and cannot wait in for a delivery.

Meanwhile, the Argos Retail Group has changed its name to Home Retail Group as it prepares itself for demerger from Experian this month. The group reported that Argos internet orders for home delivery have risen by 46 per cent in the five months to August. Sales at Argos Direct now account for 25 per cent of Argos’ total sales.
