M&S to revamp site

Stuart Rose has unveiled plans to double the £100 million
M&S e-commerce business over the next couple of years. In its
recent interim results, the high street retailer confirmed that it
will re-launch its website in the spring having recently created
a dedicated business unit for e-commerce. As of the 1st January
2007, the unit will be spearheaded by John Dixon and will focus
on enhancing the eCommerce capabilities of the site. The team
will work with Amazon to redevelop and strengthen the back-end
infrastructure and create a better platform for sales. For
example, whereas customers now can only have their orders
despatched to a single address, the new website will allow for
multi-despatch functionality. A spokesperson for M&S said that
customers may not notice a change in the design of the site but
will certainly find it easier to navigate.
