Brady Corp acquires safety ID manufacturer

Brady Corporation, which operates in the UK under the brands
Brady, Seton, BIG, Safetyshop, Focal and Signs & Labels, has
acquired Barry-based Scafftag Ltd and its affiliate, Safetrak Ltd
for an undisclosed sum. The purchase also includes the
acquisition of Scafftag Pty Ltd in Perth, Australia.

Scafftag specialises in safety identification and facility
management products for the oil and gas, construction and
scaffolding industries. With sales of approximately £4
million in 2006, the company employs 45 people in its global
operations which include sales offices in Texas and Dubai.
Commenting on how the acquisition will sit within the Brady
organisation, Peter Sephton, Brady Europe’s president, told CEB,
“The business will compliment our UK portfolio under the
leadership of the UK group MD, Greg Anapol. We want to maintain
the identity of Scafftag and Safetrack and leverage the
infrastructure of Brady to accelerate sales, and an important
part of this identity comes from the people that work and support
the business, so our integration needs to be sensitive to this.
Typically, we provide any of our acquired companies tools with
which they can manage their business more professionally, with
few mandates apart from adherence to our own very strict code of
ethics and financial reporting requirements.”

He continued, “Scafftag and Safetrack have excellent
products and customer loyalty, backed by a passionate and
committed workforce. For Brady, it extends our position as the
leading supplier of workplace safety solutions.”

Greg Anapol added, “This acquisition will allow us to enter
new markets and leverage sales through our safety distributors
and direct marketing channels. The Scafftag and Safetrack
employees will be an important addition to our team and we
welcome them to Brady.” The acquired businesses will
continue to trade under their current brand names.
