Henry Schein acquires three European businesses


Henry Schein, the Melville, NY-based dental, medical, and
veterinary supplies giant, kicked off 2009 with three European
acquisitions: DNA Anthos Impianti, Medka, and Noviko.

Imola, Italy-based DNA is a distributor of dental equipment; its
2008 sales were approximately €32 million ($43 million;
£29 million). Berlin-based Medka is a full-service provider
of medical equipment, consumables, and technical services, with
2008 sales of €27 million ($36 million; £24.5
million). Medka’s managing director, Gerd-Peter Wunderlich will
now be responsible for Schein’s medical business in Germany.
Veterinary supplies distributor Noviko, based in Brno, Czech
Republic, had sales last year of roughly €52 million ($70
million; £47 million).
