IC Companys, the Danish parent company of 11
fashion brands including InWear and Matinique, has contracted
GSI Commerce to launch ecommerce sites for its
Peak Performance brand of active apparel. The
first websites will be for the Denmark, Finland, and Sweden
markets. The company will then consider expanding with local
sites for Italy, Germany, Spain, and the UK. - Another Denmark-based global brand, Lego
Group, is working with Art Technology Group
(ATG) to relaunch its ecommerce site to support
direct-to-consumer sales in 21 countries. - Northbrook, IL-based home furnishings cataloguer/retailer
Crate & Barrel has signed a franchise agreement
with Dubai-based Al Tayer Group to open its first stores outside
of North America. Two stores will open in Dubai early next year.
Crate & Barrel is a privately held company of Hamburg,
Germany-based multititle mailer Otto Group. Al
Tayer also has Middle East franchise deals with Banana
Republic, Coach, and Mamas & Papas,
among others. -
Toys ‘R’ Us is finally readying its Australian
website for ecommerce. The American multinational retailer is
working with Melbourne-based agency Citrus to
begin selling outdoor toys and gear in time for summer, which
in Australia coincides with the Christmas selling season. - Fast-fashion retailer H&M will launch a UK
ecommerce site by autumn 2010. The Swedish company already sells
online in Scandinavia, Austria, Germany, and the Netherlands.
