reported a 46 percent jump in like-for-like annual sales,
exceeding expectations. What’s more, it outperformed its
Christmas forecast by 27 percent. The company credits its
redesigned website, ongoing SEO efforts, and expansion of its
range for the uptick. - For the six weeks to 9th January, sales at Tesco
Direct, the supermarket’s nonfood direct division, were
up more than 50 percent from the previous year. Tesco’s total
online sales rose nearly 20 percent, and total UK sales increased
8.3 percent. -
Ideal Shopping Direct, which sells via direct
TV and the internet, expects to have returned to profitability
for the fiscal year ended 3rd January. Annual year-on-year
growth rose 9.2 percent, with second-half sales up 18.5
percent. - The ongoing arctic weather is giving sales a boost at
clothing cataloguer Damart, which specialises in
thermal underwear and other cold-weather apparel. According to
the Bradford Telegraph and Argus, sales so far
this year are up about 20 percent from last year. The company
expects turnover to reach nearly £100 million for the
current fiscal year. - And Patra Silk reported a 30 percent rise in
sales of thermal underwear this past week compared with last
year. - Maternity and nursery products cataloguer/retailer
Mamas & Papas received additional bank funds to
support continued expansion into the Middle East, Japan,
Continental Europe, and Russia, the Times reports. It is launching a Japanese
website and catalogue later this month.
