Sales at multibrand cataloguer N Brown, whose
titles include Jacamo,
Marisota, and Julipa, are up
4.2 percent to £690 million in the year to 27th February
2010. Online sales grew 21 percent during the period to £272
million, and now account for 39 percent of total revenues
compared with 34 percent the previous year. In addition,
operating profit is up 2.2 percent, from £95.5 million in
2008 to £97.6 million last fiscal year.
Following such a positive performance and its successful trial in
Germany with the younger-skewing Simply Be
catalogue, chief executive Alan White confirmed that the business
was now planning to enter the US market. Simply Be will launch in
the States in the Summer with a catalogue and website offering.
All orders will be fulfilled from N Brown’s UK base.
