News roundup–Zara to launch US website, more

The Financial Times interviews Carmen Busquets, a
founding partner of Net-a-Porter and now of CoutureLab, and Mark
Dunhill of Faberg on the challenges of selling luxury goods and
jewellery online.

According to the Wall Street Journal, fashion retailer Zara is
planning to launch an online store in the US. The chief exec of
parent company Indentex said part of the reason for launching a
US online store is that it found that iPhone app has been
downloaded by more consumers in the US than in any other market.
In the UK, consumers can buy homewares via ZaraHome.com, but the
brand does not have a site selling apparel and fashion
accessories.

Stuart Rose has announced that he will leave Marks & Spencer in
March next year. The Times reports that he will take a pay cut
when he becomes the retailer’s nonexecutive chairman, following
demands by shareholders.
