US etailer Overstock has launched a
private-sales website called Eziba.com. Eziba is
not accessible through the Overstock.com homepage, but customers
can visit Eziba.com to sign up as members free of charge.
Marks & Spencer confirmed that Robert Swannell
is to join its board on 4th October as a nonexecutive director
prior to taking up the position of chairman when Sir Stuart Rose
retires in January 2011. Swannell is currently chairman at
HMV.
Office workers are likely to abandon work on a Wednesday
afternoon in favour of some online shopping, writes the
Telegraph. It notes a 52 percent rise in the number of people
shopping online on a typical workday afternoon compared with
mornings, “while shopping traffic is 11 percent higher at
2pm than at midday”.
Gifts and gadgets etailer Firebox saw sales for
the Kymera Wand increase “40-fold”, after it was
featured on BBC2’s business show Dragon’s Den, reports the
Sun.
