Sales for 2010 at The Hut Group rose 70 percent,
from £51 million to £87 million. The company’s customer
database tripled from 2 million to 6 million during the
period.
More than 80 percent of sales were generated by The Hut’s own
brands including Zavvi.com and
IWantOneOfThose.com, the rest was generated by
services delivered to its retail partners including
Tesco, N Brown, and
Argos.
Stanley Gibbons, the stamp collections
specialist, is poised to relaunch its websites. The revamped
sites, it said in a statement, will “build substantial new
profit streams for the business over time through cost effective
online trading channels”.
Aurum Holdings, the owner of jewellers
Goldsmiths and Mappin & Webb,
saw like-for-like sales increase by 14.5 percent in the five
weeks to 9th January. Online sales were up 53 percent during the
period thanks to relaunched websites for its two companies,
reports the Independent.
Experian has taken the majority stake in Techlightenment, a
London-based social media agency.
