News roundup–Ethical Superstore acquired by Spark Response


EthicalSuperstore.com a seller of all things
eco-friendly has been acquired by Spark
Response
, a contact centre and fulfilment firm. The
newly acquired business will operate as a new subsidiary company
called Spark etail Ltd.
Ethical Superstore founders Andy Redfern and Vic Morgan together
with Spark directors Noel Lambert and Peter Slee will form the
board of directors of the new business.
The two companies, both based in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, had
been working together for some time, with Spark managing inbound
call handling for Ethical Superstore since April 2010. In August
last year, 16 members of warehousing and contact centre staff
transferred from Ethical Superstore to Spark’s premises to work
on the account. Upon completion of the deal Ethical Superstore
employees transferred to the new subsidiary company.

Cataloguer/retailer Toast is looking to boost
its senior management team to accelerate growth. Parent company
French Connection says it wants to develop
“a strategy to significantly grow the business’s
profitability” and to that end Toast’s founders are
recruiting further experienced management to work alongside them.
Toast now accounts for 10 percent of French Connection’s retail
revenue in the UK.

Right Price Furniture, which was acquired by
OakFurnitureLand in December, opens a new
showroom this weekend. Since its acquisition, the Right Price
website has also been given a complete refresh and now
specialises in hardwood furniture.
