News roundup–Amazon creates 900 Scottish jobs, more


Amazon is to open a new customer service centre
in Edinburgh, creating 500 permanent and 400 temporary jobs. The
new facility is supported by a £1.8 million grant from
Scottish Development International to help train new staff and
support the construction and fit-out of the new premises,
expected to open in August 2011.

Oxfam is relocating one of its warehouse hubs
from Welwyn Garden City, Herts to Milton Keynes, providing the
charity with six times its current capacity. The new 40,000
square-foot premises will allow Oxfam to list 50,000 clothes and
100,000 books for sale in its online shop.

Early Learning Centre has unveiled its
mobile-optimised website, built by Javelin. The site is fully
integrated with ELC’s main Demandware website.
