Debenhams has identified which of its stores are earmarked for closure in January 2020. The 19 locations include Altrincham, Witney, Eastbourne, Southport, Wandsworth and Slough, with some 600 jobs to disappear. A further 30 Debenhams stores are likely to close in further phases this year as the business aims to shed all of its poor performers, resulting in further empty stores across this country and more job losses.
Stefaan Vansteenkiste, CEO, said: “We are working hard to implement the transformation of Debenhams. Despite a challenging retail environment, thanks to our colleagues’ hard work and our investor group’s commitment we are progressing with our turnaround.”
