Based on the CMA’s annual plan, Katrina Anderson, Principal Associate at national law firm, Mills & Reeve, commented:
“In 2026, the CMA is expected to continue placing further emphasis on producing clearer guidance to help businesses understand and apply the law, particularly in relation to new duties under the DMCC. This is likely to include areas such as reviews and issues that remain high on the government’s agenda, including dynamic pricing.
“Alongside its ongoing work on price transparency, the CMA is likely to increase its focus on the way consumer reviews are managed. Businesses that have not yet assessed how the CMA’s expectations on reasonable and proportionate checks apply in day-to-day operations should make this a priority.
“We also anticipate continued scrutiny of sectors that households depend on, including food and beverage and housing.”
