Brighthouse and Carluccio’s have called in administrators. Brighthouse had already looked to be on wobbly ground, prior to the government restrictions placed on consumers. Its eye-wateringly high interest charges for ‘rent to buy’ home furnishings and electricals had been strongly criticised in the media and many consumers were making claims against it. It falls to Grant Thornton to deal with the administration. Over at Carluccio’s, which had already been struggling for some time, joint administrator Geoff Rowley of FRP said: “We are operating in unprecedented times and the issues currently facing the hospitality sector following the onset of Covid-19 are well documented. In the absence of being able to trade Carluccio’s, in the short term we are urgently focused on the options available to preserve the future of the business and protect its employees.”
