Latest data from OnBuy has revealed that air fryers were the most popular Mother’s Day gift this year, with retailers reporting a surge in sales the week before the annual celebration.
Air fryers have boomed in popularity in recent years, with the quick and easy to use cooking gadget providing a healthier alternative to pan-frying food in oil. Due to being more energy efficient and cheaper to run than a traditional oven, air fryers have continued to fly off the shelves amid the ongoing cost of living crisis.
But now it seems the popular device has ventured beyond the realm of kitchen appliances and become a staple in gifting, with Brits scrambling to purchase one as a Mother’s Day present this year.
OnBuy saw a 116 per cent increase in sales of air fryers in the lead up to Mother’s Day, on Sunday 19thMarch.
A product at the forefront of this surge was the 5.5 litre COSORI Air Fryer that comes with a 100 recipe-strong cookbook, retailing at £91.71.
Emily Seals, marketing manager at OnBuy, said: “This unexpected surge has ranked air fryers as the most popular Mother’s Day present this year, beating other traditional gifting categories including health and beauty.
