Alexandra has been hit by the strong dollar

Workwear retailer/cataloguer Alexandra has been hit by the strong dollar. The business, which buys more than 95 per cent of its garments from overseas in dollars, has seen the currency gain almost 25 per cent against the pound since the end of September, reports The Press Association. To mitigate this, Alexandra has negotiated higher prices with customers and savings with its major suppliers which it says should save it £1 million next year. In the nine months to 31st October, sales were flat compared to last year, and are expected to be 3 per cent down in the year to January.
