Alibaba Group made three key appointments in December. Former Karstadt chief retail officer, Terry von Bibra was named managing director of Alibaba Group Germany and Sebastien Badault, who has led French operations for both Amazon and Google, Yahoo! is now managing director of Alibaba Group France. The company will be opening offices in each country to support the international expansion of its services for European merchants targeting the Chinese market.
The business has also confirmed Matthew Bassiur as VP, head of global intellectual property enforcement. Bassuir will lead a team to advance Alibaba’s anti-counterfeiting and IP rights protection efforts. The role reports to Michael Evans, president of Alibaba Group.
