Amazon.co.uk has opened a new warehouse, the size of 10 football
pitches, in Swansea, Wales. The 80,000-sq-ft fulfilment centre
will create 1,200 permanent and 1,500 temporary jobs over the
next five years. Amazon said that its first priority is to fill a
high number of vacancies before October so that the site is
working at “full steam” for the busy Christmas
period. The Swansea Bay development is Amazon’s fourth UK
warehouse. There are two fulfilment centres in Scotland as well
as one near Milton Keynes.
