Amazon has launched a new AR tool which enables shoppers to see how furniture will fit or look in their homes prior to purchase. The augmented reality tool, called Room Detector, not only enables its own and merchants’ products to be “inserted” into shoppers’ chosen rooms, but it can also be used to build a shopping list.
Whether it can help to address access issues, one of the bugbears of sofa retailers, remains to be seen. The sector has a very high incidence of customers placing orders for items which simply cannot be shoehorned through their front doors, let alone up stairs and through internal doors.
